The Art of He-Man & the Masters of the Universe

I just received my complimentary copy of th Art of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Dark Horse Comics sent it over for submitting items from my collection to be included in the book. I did a quick review to show off how cool the book is. Check it out!

Masters of the Universe Day - Toy Collection Tour

It's Masters of the Universe Day (MOTUD)! What better way to celebrate than to show off all the Masters of the Universe stuff I've accumulated... but this isn't even all of it. Baby Skeletor demanded that I celebrate MOTU Day on April 28th as decreed by Los Angles Mayor Tom Bradley back in 1987.

Please visit all my blogging buddies who are participating in this MOTU Day Event.

NJCC & Geek Fest Random Photos

Today I have a real quick post of two sort of random photos from two recent shows I attended. First is a cool Diorama someone had on display at NJCC. The second one is of an Ectro-1 from the South Jersey Geek Fest.

An Arctic battle ground display along side a smaller Jungle scene.

Flea Market Finds #36

I went out to a few yard sales this morning. I mostly bought tools. I had sort of given up hope of finding any toys when our last stop was a community sale in an over 55 community. Turns out Grandmom was parting with a few things the grand-kids used to play with.

I picked up Robin Hood from Prince of Thieves as well as four Power Ranger PVC figures. My younger cousin had the complete set of these PVCs back in the 90's. I got Billy the Blue Ranger, Alpha-5, Baboo, and Goldar

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers by the Loyal Subjects

The Loyal Subjects have been on fire producing awesome vinyl mini figures of hot properties including GI Joe, Transformers, and now Power Rangers! I was so excited to see these little articulated figures with removable helmets and weapons. We picked up a case to try to get as many different characters as possible.

Trini, Billy, Tommy, Jason, Kimberly, and Zach

Check out the video review below

Here are the three villain figures, and probably the best ones to make.
I would have kind of liked a Putty.

Twin-Pod Cloud Car - Vintage Star Wars

I finally got a Twin-Pod Cloud Car for my Star Wars collection! A couple weeks ago at a toy show in Delaware my buddy Nick and I bundles some stuff together to get a good deal from a Toy Dealer we see at a lot of shows. I got this beauty for $10. Complete with hatches, windows, landing gear, and decals.

Growing up my buddy, Derek, who I played Star Wars with a lot had kind of a junker Cloud Car. We were born to late for the initial Star Wars crazy so both of our childhood collections were made up of yard sale fodder. We didn't have anything complete.

Now I need to dig out two Cloud Car Pilots to man this bad boy. Being a huge GI Joe fan in the 80's I couldn't wrap my brain around the idea that Star Wars vehicles didn't come with pilots back in the day.

Flea Market Finds #36 (She-Ra & Golden Girl)

Last weekend I hit a goldmine of girly toys. I was walking around the flea market with my friends Mike & Nick and we spotted this Princess of Power lunch box which was full of She-Ra and Golden Girl dolls. The lunch box is made a light blue plastic and features a great sticker that shows off She-Ra and Swiftwind.

Inside the lunch box there was a very clean She-Ra doll with all her gold paint in great shape. There was also a Scratch & Sound Catra with some of her soft goods accessories.

There was also a ton of  Golden Girl & the Guardians of the Gemstone dolls. Here we have Golden Girl and Rubee. Golden Girl wears gold armor and Rubee is dressed in red and gold.

Dragon Queen is the main villain and is one of the most clothed figures in the line. It's interesting that she has the goth/punk type look that the Jem villains featured.

Vultura and Wild One are also villains.
Vultura has cool Bride of Frankenstein type hair. Wild One has the craziest boots in the line.

I saved the best for last, Moth Lady! Of course I can't look at this figure without thinking of Miss M from Diary of a Dorkette. If you haven't checked out her blog before... do so! This cool doll has purple wings on her back and interesting detailing on her torso.

The lunch box also contained a few capes and skirts and giant combs. Not exactly sure if these items belong to any of these dolls. If you know anything about these accessories leave me a comment below.

GI Joe purchases at NJCC

A few weeks back I went to NJCC (New Jersey Collector's Convention) in Cherry Hill. I always go and hang out with some of my fellow collector friends as well as look for stuff to add to my collection. I found several GI Joe items to purchase.

The first item is the Vector Jet from Battle Force 2000. This is arguably the best vehicle from the series. I never really had interest in collecting these vehicles other than maybe the parts that form the Future Fortress, but I'm on a bit of a kick trying to get parts to complete the vehicles my buddy Derek game me from his childhood collection last Summer.

Carded Laser-Viper, from the tail end of my original GI Joe collecting years. By this point in the line I had a ton of figures and my interest were movie to other toy lines like Ninja Turtles.  I had Laser-Viper and really liked him. I used to put the mask from Quick Change Bruce Wayne on him and use him as a more articulated Batman.

H.E.A.T. Viper was another one of the Army Builder figures I got at the end of my childhood collecting years. It was alway so hard to keep track of those little missiles that came with Heat Viper. I had that Gung-Ho mini figure as a kid as well.

I picked up the '83 Cobra Commander with a scratched up face plate for a couple bucks. The Commander in my collection is yellowed so at some point I need to replace him. This guys had a perfect chest emblem so I snagged him for possible part swaps in the figure. He's sitting on my all time favorite GI Joe vehicle, the RAM Motorcyle. I've got a bunch of these things and I pick them up all the time when I see them.

I'm always on the lookout for accessories. My buddy Alan let me dig through some parts bags. I can't got wrong at a $1 piece plus a quantity discount.

The final item for this post is the Tiger Rat. This is the Tiger Force verson of the Rattler. This is another vehicle that my buddy Derek game me from his collection and combined with the one bellow I'll be putting together a nice specimen for myself.

Flea Market Finds #35

Spring is here, and it's finally warmed up. It felt like winter around here long after it should have. I've been out to the Flea Markets, but I just haven't posted my finds for some reason. I'll be catching up in the near future. I bought these items the Thursday before Easter.

Masters of the Universe record featuring two songs from the cartoon show. Neither the record or the sleeve are in perfect condition, but I really like the art so I picked it up. He-Man and Skeletor battling over Castle Grayskull. I like Teela rocking her snake armor.

1979 Superman the Movie Calendar featuring images from the film. Many of the months have kind of lame images. Not as exciting as I would have thought, but the centerfold image of Superman is very nice.

I spent a total of $2.50 for these two items.

Star Wars Episode 7 Predictions from 2005

Back in 2005 was was still producing content for a (now defunct) website. I made the following two comics as my prediction for Star Wars Episode 7. I made these about a month after the release of Revenge of the Sith. I've been dying to see what happens after Return of the Jedi since I first saw it in the 80's.

Poison Ivy - DC Signature Collection

DC Signature Collection by Mattel gave us many amazing DC Comics heroes and villains including Poison Ivy. This figure has a excellent sculpt and beautiful paint job. Poison Ivy looks both sexy and deadly. I love how striking her eyes are on this figure.

Poison Ivy has pale green skin (top photo has more accurate color) and is wearing only a dark green swim suit. She has leave throughout her hair and outfit. She also came with three vine accessories that wrap around her arms and legs. The sculpt work on her hair is really impressive.

Renegade Predator

The Renegade Predator was part of a really cool Kenner 2-Pack that included the Warrior Alien. I picked this guy up at a flea market last year I think My best buddy Derek had him and the Alien when we were kids. The cool thing about this set is that both the Predator and the Alien looked like they jumped out of the movies. They weren't real strange variations.

Renegade Predator has yellowish skin and wears tan armor. He has a laser cannon sculpted onto his shoulder. He comes with two removable accessories. One is his mask and the other is a bladed weapon (not pictured).

Check out that gruesome face under the mask. He's got great dreadlocks sculpted on the back.

Huffer and Blackjack - Combiner Wars Transformers

Two new Combiner Wars figures, Huffer and Blackjack. Huffer is orange and blue and turns into a truck. Blackjack is dark gray and purple and turns into a car. They each include a trading card and one weapon accessory. I really like Blackjack's battle ax.

Sabertooth - Toy Biz

This is the 2nd version of Sabertooth to be released by Toybiz during their massive 1990's X-Men toy line. The first Sabertooth was one of the few figures to slip past me at retail as a kid. After my GI Joe phase I moved on to Turtles. Then by late elementary school I was asking for X-Men for every Birthday and Christmas. This was the first and only version of him I owned. He mirrors the way he looked in the 90's cartoon.

Sabertooth has a cool action feature where his arms move slightly and his mouth opens when you squeeze his legs together. I had a ton of fun with him as a kid and was constantly having him battle my Wolverine figure. For a long time as a kid I was very confused about his back story due to the fact that Sabertooth was lying to Wolverine (who didn't remember much of his past) in the comics.

I still find in interesting how much he's fluctuated between a shaggy man and a humanoid beast in various incarnations.

DC Multiverse - Joker, Red Hood, Scarecrow, Robin, Black Mask, & Two-Face

Today I've got a review for you guy of a whole mess of these Batman Video Game figures from the DC Multiverse Line. I've got the Joker, Red Hood, Scarecrow, Robin, Black Mask, & Two-Face. These guys all have 11 or so points of articulation. Unfortunately Black Mask is the only one to come with any accessories.

It's a Battle Royale

Black Mask & the Joker

Scarecrow & Two-Face

Red Hood and Robin

I really like the Red Hood figure the most out of this bunch. Two-Face is pretty cool as well.
