S.K. Optimus Prime & Grimlock

Yesterday I announced my 100,000 views contest. Go here to enter to win this Target Exclusive Silver Knight Optimus Prime and Grimlock two pack.

The contest ends when Action Figure Adventures.blogspot.com hits 100,000 views. Which should be sometime in the next two weeks!

So today's post is all about this cool Transformers 4 set of action figures. Optimus Prime is a movie universe style figure while Grimlock is more of a G1 style figure.

I'm not really sure where Hasbro came up with this pairing, but it's a very cool set.

Toy Room Preview #4

I've got my toys moved back into the toy room, so I figured I'd give everyone a better look around. I need to go to IKEA or Just Cabinets to look for some more shelving units. I also have a big screen consul TV that I plan to convert into a shelf for my Star Wars figures. Hope you enjoy the tour.

An Almost Space Adventures

In honor of the first day of summer break from school, I'm posting a stop motion animated video some of my students made in an after school club. Using some action figures they brought in and a bunch I had at school they developed a story and made this video. I think they did a nice job with some of the sets. They won first place at the county computer fair in the animation category, but didn't place at states.

Here is one shot of the prisonors using a sheild to deflect the laser beams into the guard. It's the one sequence that I feel like the animation is a little to fast to be able to communicate the story extremely clearly.

Devilfish - GI Joe '86

The Devilfish was a small water craft that had both a memorable comic issue cover and scene with Sgt Slaughter in GI Joe: the Movie. This little orange boat can hold up to three figures, but is really just a one man craft. I've had had a couple of over the years, but when I saw this complete one for sale at It's a Toy Show I had to grab another one.

The Devilfish I had as a kid actually came from a yard sale. I played with it in the bathtub, because it really floats and the stickers loosed up and came off. I was kind of crushed because I really like the logo on the front. I played with mine so much that both the foot pegs eventually broke off in figures feet.

The Devilfish has four gray missiles and a double barreled gray gun on top. It's also armed with two orange torpedoes on the bottom

The Devilfish has two outboard motors with removable engine covers. There are also two small black cords that connect the engines to the boat.

Here's Shipwreck and Admiral Keel Haul motoring around in a pair of Devilfish. The Devilfish in the background has less decals than the one I just picked up.

Flea Market Finds #28

Today we visited the Garden State to see what kind of treasures we could find at the flea market. On our way we saw a hitch (for towing a trailer) laying in the middle of the highway. My buddy Dave said "I'd give $30 for that at the flea market". So we got off at the next exit and got turned around. The particular exit we used wasn't real great for getting off and back on the same road. By the time we got on the road again going in the correct direction to drive past the hitch again someone had hit it and broke it. I can't image that didn't mess up their tire. Dave pulled over and threw it in the bed of the truck. Our fellow flea marketer Ray will have to weld it up for him. So the day started off with a free find.

I spend six dollars today and come home with a nice hall. I picked up a copy of the Empire Strikes Back story book. Wild Boar from GI Joe was grabbed because he is in great shape, and how can you pass up an army builder. His little Destro logo on his shoulder is perfect. Also from GI Joe I picked up another RAM motorcycle. I loved that thing as a kid and buy everyone I see. I got a Jokerz from Batman Beyond. Unfortunately his jacket tails are broken off. He still displays nicely on a shelf. I also picked up two small figures from Tyco's Dino-Riders. Aries is in the blue and Quark is decked out in camouflage.

Strongheart PVC - AD&D

Here is a PVC mini-figure from the LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons line. This little sliver knight with bright blue cape is Strongheart the good paladin. In the past I posted about two other D&D PVC figures. I picked this guy up at a yard sale several years ago.

Shuttle Pod - NA He-Man

Last weekend at It's a Toy Show I picked up this vehicle from the 90's He-Man toy line. Often called the New Adventures of He-Man due to the title of the cartoon show that supported the line, this series sent He-Man into outer space.  I got this box (not sealed) vehicle in a bundle deal with two carded figures from other lines.

It's kind of ashame, but the front of the box is kind of ruined by the big discount sticker. The top of the package show off some of the ships features. The swiveling fins and storage for extra weapons that are included with the vehicle.

The back of the box shows off more features, including how to attach the Shuttle Pod to the Terror Claw vehicle.

Here is the contents of the box. The Shuttle, instructions, and a baggie including the decals and the parts. I haven't decided if I'll put it together, or just keep it in the box.

Sir Darren & Valor the War Horse

A few weeks ago I found out that Mattel made toys based on a cartoon show I enjoyed in the early 90's called King Arthur and the Knights of Justice. I stumbled upon a few figure from the line at a flea market and then did some research online.

Then last weekend at It's a Toy Show I saw a carded specimen of Sir Darren. I totally remember the dude with a cross bow on his armor. In the show most of the characters weapons materialized out of the armor. Many characters could also call forth spirit animals from their shields as well.

I asked the guy want he wanted for the figure and he actually said he wasn't sure if he wanted to sell the figure. What the hell? Why drag a toy to a show if you aren't going to sell it. I hate that. Then he quoted me a price that was a little to high for my taste. I talked with my buddy Nick a bit and decided to try to get a good price on a package deal later in the show. It worked out and I was able to save a few bucks on Sir Darren, M. Bison, and a toy I will be posting about tomorrow.

After I spotted Sir Darren, but before I worked out the deal for him I was pleasantly surprised to find Valor the Warhorse from the line in a pile of stuff at a booth where I had bought several dollar figures. I asked how much, granted he's missing parts and in rough shape, but I was quoted a dollar so he had to be mine.

Valor is a bit faded, a but paint worn, and a little bit yellowed. He's missing his helmet, his missile firing lance, and a shield or two that clip to the sides of his hind end. He does have his small arrow accessory on his one side. There isn't a lot of information on this toy out there on the internet. I found a image of his box and a couple of photo of the toy, but no real clear images of everything that he originally included. Down the road I may give Valor a custom paint job to revive this old toy. If I can find another, nicer, Valor I'll paint him a different color completely.

Here is a shot of the five figures from the

This image of the card back shows off a prototype of Valor. The arrows and lance are on opposite sides of the horse. You can also get an idea of what his helmet was like. Notice that the Masters of the Universe Slime Pit is pictured here as a future product for the line. I can't find any evidence that it was actually released.

The black sword that came with some of the Archfiend Skeleton Warriors from the Realm of the Underworld toyline look exactly like Excalibur from this toyline, but Arthur's sword was molded in silver. So the King is borrowing a sword from my Zoloworld figures for this photo on his steed.

King Randor (Armored) - MOTUC

I love Mattel's Masters of the Universe Classics line. I didn't get in on the line at the very begining, but I've picked up most of the items I missed out on. One of the few items I passed on when I was first getting into classics was the original release of King Randor. This figure is based on his vintage figure and for whatever reason it didn't tickle my fancy. Now that my collection is pretty massive and mostly complete when I saw him at It's a Toy Show this weekend I felt like I needed to pick him up.

Randor comes armed with a gold sword and staff. Both feature a four pointed arrow with blue stone motif. When I look at Randor's lower half I can't help but think of Lion-O from Thundercats. It's the orange legs with blue boots I guess. I prefer the palace version of Randor, but I'm a real sucker for the Filmation cartoon series.

Here's King Randor in package before I ripped it open and let this guy breath some fresh air.
