2014 Club Eternia Support Video
I was glad that Toy Guru seemed less panicked at the panel this year about hitting the minimum number of subscribers. A few days before SDCC I started working on my Support the Sub video like I made last year. Since I has He-Man beg people the Support the Sub and Grayskull Pre-Order, I decided to go with a different angle this year. I finished it up right after Mattypalooza was over. Hopefully the thermometer on MattyCollector.com keeps moving and we don't have to go into crisis management mode again this year.

How long does it take you to complete something like this?Nice job bro!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say around 10 hours.
DeleteI probably have at least an hour of prep. I write a loose script (I always get my best ideas while animating, so some lines get added) and collect the toys I'm using. There is probably close to 6 hours of animating. I have to set up the shots, take a picture, move the toys, take another picture. Then I record all the voices. (I wish I was better at consistently doing the voices. I feel like Randor's voice lost its gravellyness when he talked to Spector) I probably spent at least 3 hours editing it. The editing software I use doesn't let me layer a lot of sounds so I often have to render a final copy, then re-import the video so I can layer more sounds. This happens when ever there are sound effects, music, or speaking at one time.
Since I just do it for fun I never worry to much about sets or minor mistakes. Some of the longer projects I've done with friends are perhaps a little more polished in the audio areas at least. Action Figure Adventures the series was edited by a friend of mine on a much more sophisticated system and he has a better set up for recording the sounds.
Impressive!I've used audio programs like Cakewalk when making music.There is a freeware version of an audio program called Audacity that i mess around with now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know there are other free audio programs but with the animation I need to see the video while doing the audio. It has to be timed together. I also don't have a very good computer, so running a fancy video software with more audio tracks would be nice, but would crash.
