Z-Bots was a line of small robot figures made by Galoob in the 90's. As a special promotion Z-Bots were the prize inside the Burger King Kids Club meals for a time. The figures that came in the meals were not quite a well articulated and detailed as the normal Z-bots. They probably had to follow additional safety guidelines for the fast food tie-in. Buzzsaw is a black and purple robot with a lightning blue saw blade for his right arm.

Dr Octopus - Superhero Showdown
A few years ago (before Hasbro was cranking out 3 3/4 inch super heroes) I picked up this Dr. Octopus figure from the Superhero Showdown game. I love that he is wearing his costume from Secret Wars time period. The figure is nicely articulated. The only real down side is that his mechanical arms are kind of short and non-articulated rubber.
He reminds me a lot of the the vintage Secret Wars figure. That figure also suffered from poorly articulated mechanical arms. The funniest thing about the original design of Doc Oc is his bowl hair cut. How do you take a super villain with a bowl cut seriously?

Treasures hidden in the basement
I have been helping my Dad clean up around my parents house off and on the past few months. He's been having a lot of work done to the house, and I think plans to downside in a few years when he retired. The other weekend we were cleaning stuff out of the basement. They are getting a new furnace installed for the heater and needed to clear a good path to take the old one out and bring the new one in. We were dragging stuff up from the the basement and then going through the boxes quickly in the back yard. Most of the stuff was junk that no one had looked at in years. One of these boxes has a few minor treasures form my childhood in it. This boxed contained some odds and end pamphlets and card backs from early 80's toys my sister and I owned. Unfortunately the box had gotten wet one time and the stuff in the bottom half of the box needed to be thrown out because it had gotten moldy.
I have previously posted about Glo Friends here on AFA. In the box I found the top half of the card back to one of them. It shows off all the figures in the first wave of the line.
I have also posted about the Care Bear figures my sister and I had in the 80's. I think this little booklet came with the Cloud Mobile my sister got for her birthday one year. The booklet shows off all the figures. My little niece plays with our old Care Bears now.
In a piece I re-posted here about Superman, from an older site I wrote for, I talked about a birthday card that contained little punch out finger puppets. I found the front of the card. It looks like it came from one of my aunts and uncles. I got this card when I was very young. I've had the finger puppets for years. I thought the card might have the Super Powers logo on it, but it doesn't.
I had to throw out this He-Man and the Masters of the Universe mini-comic. You can see the mold in the fold. The Dragon's Gift was also made into an epsiode of the Filmation cartoon with a red version of the Dragon Granamyr. I'm looking forward to the MOTUC release of him this month.
Here is the booklet that came with my Lurky doll from Rainbow Brite. I have to admit it, I love Rainbow Brite. It was a cool cartoon show and I had a several of the dolls. The bad guys were my favorite part though. My mom could not understand why I wanted this ugly doll as a kid.
The last item in the box, which was totally ruined from the box getting wet was a set of She-Ra paper dolls. (I stole the above image from an ebay auction to show you them) The paper from the dolls, costumes, and booklet were all stuck together and moldy so I didn't bring them home to photograph. I remember my sister getting these on the board walk at the beach one summer. The set included She-Ra, Swift Wind, and Angella. They all had their normal outfits and a bunch of weird ones they never wore as toys or in the cartoon. As a big MOTU fan I was a little sad to have throw them and the He-Man mini-comic away.

The box also contained several pieces of My Little Pony paperwork. These might have come with my sister's Pony Castle. She sold the Castle at a flea market when we were kids after she stopped playing with toys. Later I traded the box to it (which was in our attic) to a toy reseller for some store credit. His wife collected My Little Pony.

Napkins from my Sister's Rainbow Brite Party and my Transformers Party. I was never a huge fan of this piece of artwork of Optimus Prime. It's just an odd rendering of him.

Daily Planet News Paper Truck - Corgi
Another cool DC superhero die cast car made by Corgi in 1978. Like the other Corgi cars I have, this car was given to my by a kid up the street who passed down a bunch of his toys to me when he out grew them. I've had this since sometime is the mid 80's.
I always thought it was funny for that the Daily Planet knew Superman wore street cloths over his costume... and glasses and then put it on the side of their tuck. Someone didn't put a lot of thought into the design of the graphic. Although the graphic is bold and interesting.

I looks like I missed a little dust on top of the cab when I photographed it.

More Jurrassic Park
Here are a few more Jurassic Park Dinosaurs I have in my collection of Dinosaurs. These guys are nicely detailed and have some articulation. The Dimetrodon has a moveable jaw and swivels at the shoulder joint of each leg.
Many people consider the T-Rex to be the star of Jurrassic Park (and it was) but the Velociraptor also played a huge part in the suspenseful end of the film. This figure also has an articulated jaw and swivel cuts on each leg.

King Grayskull - MOTUC
King Grayskull is the character that launched the Masters of the Universe Classics Line. The original version of the figure was a Comic Con exclusive. Later Mattel released another version of the figure. The second release is pictured bellow.
King Grayskull is basically He-Man with a longer style loin-cloth and a different head. He has a slightly different chest harness and a cape. The white part of this release's cape is flocked. Along with the cape and harness King Grayskull comes with several other accessories. He includes a Power Sword with glowing tip, two normal power sword halves, a shield, and an orb that contains the power of Grayskull.
The bios on the back of the MOTUC figures try to merge all the different He-Man back stories. King Grayskull was created for the MYP 200x cartoon. The power sword halves come from the first wave of vintage action figures and the mini-comics included with them.
King Grayskull putting his power into the Orb. The Power Orb was then hidden inside Castle Grayskull to keep it safe until someone could tap into it's power and become He-Man.

Bane - Hot Wheels
Right after I got my drivers license back I saw this bad boy while I was out toy hunting. My good friend Doug Moench is one of the co-creators of the character Bane, so I collect a lot of Bane merchandise. The car is based on the characters appearance rather than an actual vehicle from the comics. I picked up a second one to share with a friend.

Skeletor/Care Bear T-Shirt
I ordered this shirt from $6 T-Shirts a while ago. It features Skeletor and a Care Bear with their heads and accessories swapped. It's kind of funny.

Flea Market Finds #10
I went to the flea market again today with my buddy Dave. I actually picked up quite a few figures. I paid 6.75 for this fine haul. There's two Cowboys of Moo Mesa figures. I never had any of them as a kid, but I watched the cartoon. The one with black and white spots is the Colorado Kid. The blue/gray Cowboy is Dakota Dude. I also got one of the Neutrino kids and a Foot Solder from Ninja Turtles. There's the Ghostbuster Zombie Monster, a Battle Beast, and a GI Joe army builder (Rock Viper).

Iceman - Mega Blocks
It's December... we need an icy treat.
For a long time I have been very close minded about what I call "Lego Knock Offs". For many years I have been very anti Mega Blocks and Hasbro's Built-to-Rule toys (although I bought a few for the figures). Legos are the first and the best. As I stated, Hasbro chipped away at me a little when they came out with their own building toys that included GI Joe figures. The blocks still didn't hold together as well as Lego. Mega Blocks has been doing a lot of cool knights and monster figures for a while and then started doing licensed characters like Halo. Then Hasbro re-branded their blocks (not sure if they changed the design) and called them Kre-O. I bought a couple of Kre-O blind bag Transformers when I first got my lisence back. I bought four packs and ended up with two copies of two different characters. Kind of a let down, but the figures were cool. Then just recently I saw some Marvel Mega Blocks blind bags and Iceman was one of the characters. So, again I bought four. I ended up with three unique characters. Not as bad.
I had to try to get an Iceman, since he's my favorite X-Men character. Iceman is a clear figure who comes with a clear building brick base and a clear icicle weapon. He's a decent figure. I think he shares his sculpt with the Silver Surfer. He has a nice frosted look to him. These Mega Blocks figures have a nice amount of articulation.

Iceman in action!
When I got my package from Action Figs & Things and there was a bunch of Mega Blocks guys in there I had to laugh. Up until a week ago I was still anti Mega Blocks. Iceman and those new figures from ActionFig are making me see the light.
