I recently have been in the habit of writing the next days blog post the night before and then posting it at midnight (if I'm still up) or posting it the next morning while I eat breakfast. So I was getting ready to write up tomorrows post and when I went to upload pictures I got a message about being out of space.
I didn't read the fine print real clearly when I signed up for this blog, I just kind of jumped into it. I also admit that I go pretty picture heavy on here and could probably do most posts with less photos.
So, do I pay to upgrade my storage?
I've been having fun blogging, but without pictures it's kind of dumb. The storage plan isn't expensive, but I'm not making any money off this blog. This leads me to my second question.
If I'm paying for a storage plan should I then sign up for Google Ad sense to help counter act the costs?
I'm not a huge fan of adds on a blog that's just for fun.
What to do? What to do?
Wow...I didn't know one could run out of space on a blog. I will quit my blog if that is the case.
ReplyDeleteYou might have to back up any of your photo's you want to save and delete some of your older blog posts.
ReplyDeleteOh No! Looks like i hit the storage limited too and i refuse to pay for more so i will have to start either freeing up space or figure something else out as well.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how possible this is but before deleting those pics Buzz, maybe you could print them out and create a book of sorts with all of your past posts. It's something I've been thinking about doing for a while now so If I ever have to delete any pics, they would already be printed out and in the form of a scrap-book.Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI've been on blogger since like 2007 and I post a lot of images, but have yet to run out of image space and have never paid to upgrade. A quick look shows I've only used 6% of my free storage available.
ReplyDeleteDo you upload images at full res? I certainly recommend you shrink your images before uploading if that's the case.
Also, if ads will help offset image host cost - I say go for it!
Yeah, I think I'm going to start reducing the size of the images that I upload.
DeleteStrange as I got a warning this week too about over quota.
ReplyDeleteI've been uploading high res images so I am slowly going back to every post, and resizing them and saving them web optimized (all done automatically in a Photoshop action I created).
What takes time is to repost everything...
I'm resizing them one at a time in the online editor for the gallery that they are stored in. Save the time of reposting.
DeleteUh Oh, I had no idea. Where can I check this? I'd like to get a handle on it now before I get over.
ReplyDeleteThere is a Picasa Web Album set up for you on google when you created your blog. Go to the Picasa site and log in. Then if you go to your album and click upload there is a graph that shows how much space you have left. Any image 800 pixels or less doesn't count against your space (or so I've read. So I no longer upload stuff at full size.
DeleteThanks! I ahd no idea til now and I can get a better handle on it before I get over. I only have 1023MB uploaded now so I'm good. I tried the Adsense stuff but didnt like it 1) cause it made viewing the blog a mess 2) After two weeks they said I had bad clicks and they shut it off. To this day I have no idea what they are talking about, I never clicked it once but who knows, try it and maybe you'll have a better chance. Good Luck !
DeleteNo, I didn't want adds, but I don't want the blog to cost me money either(...although it encourages me to spend money on toys).
