Mall Collectibles Show (Toy) Haul

Kevin is joined by Rose (aka Retro Screamer) to show off all the cool toys they picked up at the Mall Collectible Show. Rose picked up a lot of great retro toys and Kevin didn't do to bad either. The show was held at the Brunswick Square Mall in New Jersey.

Transformers vs GI Joe KidRobot Vinyl Figure Blind Boxes

Unboxing a full case of Transformers vs GI Joe vinyl figure blind boxes by Kid Robot. I got so see these stylized figures at New York Toy Fair and KidRobot was nice enough to hook me up with a case to review! Lots of fun characters in a funky style based on the recent IDW crossover comic series.

Hasbro/IDW Revolution SDCC 2017 Box Set

Revolution was a world building event comic book series published by IDW that combined several Hasbro properties. As Hasbro works towards building a Cinematic Universe this years SDCC Exclusive was a Revolution Box Set containing Transformer, GI Joe, Action Man, MASK, Visionaries, ROM and Micronauts action figures. This is a pretty fun set. I don't know how great the combined movie universe will be, but bring on the toys!

The Transformers: Revenge of the Decepticons

The Transformers: Revenge of the Decepticons an adventure to sticker and color. Similar to yesterday's Voltron book, this Transformers coloring book came with "stickers" you lick and stick on the pages and then you can finish coloring them in. Megatron's got an interesting color design on the front cover.

Ultimate Guide to Transformers by Mark Bellomo

The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Transformers Action Figures is the newest book in this series of awesome toy books by Mark Bellomo. This is actually an updated version of an out of print book Transformers Identification & Price Guide. Along with some update prices and some new information this new edition features all new photos of the Transformers in robot and alternate modes. It really is a must have for any Transformers fan. Too Many Games 2015 - Gaming Convention Visit

This past weekend Baby Skeletor and I attended Too Many Games 2015 in Oaks Pennsylvania. It was a good time as usual. I volunteered at the show and Baby Skeletor enjoyed checking out all the video game related merchandise and Panels. His favorite panel was the "Talk about Games" panel with Ryan Schott and Mike Matei. There was a live Super Smash Brothers Wrestling Show at the convention that everyone said was pretty awesome.

Mike Matei shows off his G1 Transformers

Mike Matei from Cinemassacre (Angry Video Game Nerd - James & Mike Monday) shows off his impressive collection of G1 Transformers. He starts off with the toys displayed behind his sofa in many of the James & Mike videos and then moves to another room where he keeps the rest of his collection. Hear about Mike's first conversation with the future AVGN.

Megatron - Transformers Combiner Wars

The next Transformer Combiner Wars figure we have to look at is Megatron. This version is a cool mix of the G1 robot mode with the tank from later series as his alternative mode. The entire figure is made of silver and gray plastic with a few red details. My favorite thing about this Megatron figure is his rubber tank treads that really roll. My least favorite thing is that his arm cannon / tank turret cannon doesn't really have much power when it fires.

Optimus Prime - Combiner Wars

Combiner Wars Optimus Prime is a great mix of modern and G1. He's got a nice amount of bulk without looking too clunky. Prime comes armed with two cannons that can connect to each other to form a larger weapon. As part of the Combiner Wars Optimus can combine with several other robots in the series.

Thundercracker - Transfromers Combiner Wars

Taking a look at another Combiner Wars figure. This time it's the evil Transformer Thundercracker. This awesome robot can turn into a jet.

Huffer and Blackjack - Combiner Wars Transformers

Two new Combiner Wars figures, Huffer and Blackjack. Huffer is orange and blue and turns into a truck. Blackjack is dark gray and purple and turns into a car. They each include a trading card and one weapon accessory. I really like Blackjack's battle ax.

Swerve & Flanker - Transformers Generations

I recently got to take a look at the Transformers Generations Swerve & Flanker figures. One of the guys in charge of SEO Toy Review, where I work, is a big fan of Transformers. Usually the toys they ask me to review are the kiddie Rescue Bots figures, but the last time I was there Ryan had a Transformer figure that he bought for himself and hadn't opened him up yet. So I got to be the first one to play with his new toy.

Swerve is a red and white Robot that can turn into a truck. He's a fairly small figure, but his articulation is pretty good. His little buddy Flanker is a very tiny robot that can turn into a jet or a blaster gun.

Blades the Copter-Bot - Transformers Rescue Bots

I got together with a bunch of my friends from SEO Toy Review to shoot some more Super Exciting Outrageous videos. Today's review is of Blades the Copter-Bot. He's from the Transformers Rescue Bot line. He's pretty basic, but of course aimed at young kids. Let me know what you think of these videos.

Optimus Prime - toy truck

during the merchandising blitz for the first Transformers movie, Hasbro released some Hot Wheels like toy cars of some of the Transformers in car mode. Here is Optimus Prime as a blue and red tractor trailer truck. The vehicle is pretty much all plastic, not metal like most toy cars of this scale.

If you flip the truck over you can see that Prime's robot mode is sculpted on the bottom. I guess a kid could pretend he transformed. It's kind of lame but oh well. I think I bought this toy at Five Below.

A photo from my 5th Birthday

Here is a photo of all the kids that attended my 5th birthday party. The party was Masters of the Universe themed. One of the kids is actually wearing the goofy party hat in the picure. My mom had everyone hold the present they game me after they were all unwrapped to make it easy to write thank you notes.

I know it's a little hard to tell but there are some awesome 80's gems in there. My sister game me a Masters of the Universe puzzle. The kid next to her (with the party hat) game me Sgt. Slaughter and the Triple T. The kid in front of her game me Streetwise a police car Transfomer. One of the other kids in the front row (Will Smith, not the actor) gave me a metal He-Man lunch box that I used up until 3rd grade. The girl in the sitting in the upper right corner game me Night Stalker the evil mechanical horse from MOTU. I'm the kid with the heart-shaped sun glasses.

Wizard World 2014 - Philly Comic Con

Wizard World Comic Con is in Philadelphia again this year. A couple of the girls I work with at the Haunted Hay Ride were riding the train down so I decided to go with them. I knew I bunch of my friends from Retro Con would be there.

Both girls weren't quite sure what to expect since this was their first comic con. Casie used some latex make-up to add wounds to her face and neck and cosplayed as a Walker (zombie). Big stretch since she works at a hay ride. Here she is with a guy dressed as Darryl. She got stopped for photo ops pretty often.

 Monica is a big Transformers fan. She bought almost everything we saw with Soundwave on it. Here she is showing off the Encore Soundwave figure she bought today. She also bought the Decepticon hat she is wearing at the show.

The rest of Monica's Transformer wardrobe came with her to the show. Will there today she bought a Soundwave t-shirt and a hoodie. You can't tell from the photo, but she also wore Transformers pants and a string bag to the show.

After about a half hour Monica told me I needed to be the adult and not let her spend more money on Transformers stuff.

 I knew my friends Rose, Tony, Mike, and Jen would all be at the Retro Con table promoting my favorite con, which is coming up at the end of September in Oaks, PA. Jen and Mike were manning the table when I first spotted them. Unfortunately, the photo is a little fuzzy. From what I saw on Facebook, Jen has been busy buying up all kinds of Strawberry Shortcake items.

 I saw a lot of cosplayers this year, but I didn't feel like there were as many crazy, over the top, large costumes as in the past. Here are some Super Megaforce Power Rangers as well as Batman Beyond.

 The most drool worthy vintage toy I saw at the show was a Wonder Bread He-Man. The Indiana Jones figures next to him are pretty cool as well.

This chick's costume is an interesting take on a female version of the Green Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger. I really liked this giant Pikachu. He should have been walking around with on of the several sets of Ash and Misty I saw today.

 Dick Tracy and Flat-Top kind of surprised me. Seems like an old and forgotten series, but these guys did a great job. Jesus on a dinosaur was one of the weirder costumes I saw today.

 

Earlier in the day I saw these guys doing a photo shoot outside where there was some scaffolding set up. There were more villains at the photo shoot including Toad and Strife.

I took this issue of Avengers vs X-Men with me. It was previously signed by inker Scott Hanna, but today I got it signed by Jim Cheung who did the cover. I didn't know that Mike Manley was going to be at the show, but I enjoyed his work on the end of the Knight Fall story lines. Mike basically drew all the issues once Jean Paul Valley turned the Bat-Suit into a suit of armor. I bought a copy of Batman 505 off him, which he signed. It would have been cool to get the copy I already have signed by author Doug Moench but of well.
 

 

I got issues #1,2, and 0 of the New 52 Superboy signed by the artist and inker team of RB Silva and Rob Lean. I had to stand in line a while because Mr. Silva was being interviewed while I was in line. I wanted to got New 52 Batman issues #1,2, and 0 signed by Greg Capullo, but his line was outrageous. So I skipped it.

I got to meet animator and director Tom Cook today. He worked on many cartoons including He-Man, Super Friends, and Scooby Doo. I got him to sign this He-Man cel that I have framed.

I really didn't buy much today, but I did find the new DC Multiverse Penguin and Unmasked Batman for $10 a piece. That's Target price and I haven't seen them at Toys R Us or Target here locally. I was happy to buy them at that price. I'll be cracking these open and reviewing them before long.

The final thing I brought how with me is something I didn't buy, although I would have loved to have. My buddies Rose and Tony from Retro Con are lending me their vintage Panthro and Thundertank. What would Tony and I possibly be plotting?

I'm not really sure where Hasbro came up with this pairing, but it's a very cool set.

100,000 Views Contest

Action Figure Adventures is getting close to hitting 100,000 views. I've very excited about hitting this milestone and to help push us to that number I'm running a contest.

Flea Market Finds #23

Today I got up to go the the bank and then hit up my local comic book store for Free Comic Book Day. After that I started driving around hitting up yard sales. There were quite a few today. I hit a few but I didn't buy anythingt, but then I hit a couple I was very glad I stopped at.

I have been a huge fan of the Max Rebo Band since I was a kid. I loved them in the movie and was so happy to find out there were toys of these cool aliens. I was born in '82 so I was behind the times and my entire childhood Star Wars collection came from yard sales. I've bought several sets over the years. Slowly upgrading from three plain figures to a band with an organ, later buying another set to get the flute. I bought this set today because they have their two microphones. My buddy Derek and I featured the band in the 7th episode of Action Figure Adventures the series.

Kind of like the band, I buy any cheap vintage Star Wars figures I find. I bring them home to see if they are in better shape than the figures in my collection. I used to make custom figures using a lot of them. Lately I've been shipping the duplicates of to fellow bloggers looking for some classic figures. The little R2-D2 is an eraser. I'm not sure if he's official or a knock off. The guy threw him in for me since I bought a bunch of stuff.

I'm a sucker for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. I picked up this large Red Ranger today. He's got some paint wear on his chest and a little yellowing on his foot, but I'm adding him to my Ranger shelf.

I never owned any Sectaurs as a kid, but I was very aware of them. We rarely got toys at the store except for Christmas or Birthdays. So as a kid if I wanted a big GI Joe collection I had to really focus on that line when making wish lists. So many cool 80's lines never made it into my collection. Now I pick them up cheap at yard sales. I think this guy is a bad guy. I was impressed that he still has his harness, sword, and gun. It looks like the wings on his little bug buddy are broken, but they still flap.

I snagged this Transformers card game. It looks like everything is there including the instructions. The card art features the first wave heroes and villains as well as the Dionbots and Insecticons.

I grabbed the horse from Toy Story 2. He is articulated at the legs and head. I'm going to take him into school and add him to the box of toys the kids can us when they do their stop motion animation videos in middle school Technology Education or after school photo club.

I'm real happy with my haul. I spent $16 today. It works out to around $1.50 an item.
