Luke & Dak at the Battle of Hoth

The snow here has melted quite a bit, but it's still fun to look outside and see snow on the ground. This snow storm the only toy stuff I did in the snow was my recent Power Ranger videos, but today I want to show off some photos I took previously of Luke Skywalker, Dak Ralter, and their Rebel Snow Speeder.

Luke Skywalker and his gunner Dak Ralter head into battle with the Empires ground assault force. Along with their fellow Rebel Pilots they will be up against several Imperial walker which sport strong armor and a massive amount of firepower.

Our brave heroes take a direct hit to the rear of the ship while on an a attack pass under the massive walkers. Luke looses control of his speeder and the craft impacts into the dense snow of Hoth. Once he has the cockpit open, Luke crawls out of the ship.

Luke notices that his friend Dak has made no effort to leave the ship even though it is beginning to fill with smoke. Dak, Dak! he shouts as he tries to undo the gunners safety harness. Luke now positive of his friends fate he steps away from the ship because even though they are grounded they are still in the path of the AT-AT Walker's attack.

Luke takes his lightsaber hilt off his belt and formulates a plan on how he can take down the mighty walker without his speeder.

Dragon Walker - MOTU

The Dragon Walker is another really wacky mechanical vehicle from the Masters of the Universe line like the Attack Track. There is a gear in the bottom of the dragon head that  moves along a track in the base. When the head gets to the end of the track it rotates the entire base. This motion creates a very slow and bizarre motion.

The Dragon Walker is such a strange mix of technology and fantasy, it would only fit in the Master of the Universe line. I loved this toy as a kid and I had an awesome poster of Battle Armor He-Man riding the Dragon Walker in my room as a kid. The coat of arms on the side of the vehicle is kind of interesting.

I did pinch my hand in the gears as a kid trying to make the Dragon Walker "walk" without batteries. It was kind of traumatic as a little kid.

Star Wars The Force Awakens Action Figure Adventures

Today's video is the Star Wars The Force Awakens Action Figure Adventures episode   So when we shoot toy reviews we often include skits. I planned from the start to string the skits together to make one story, but didn't have the story planned because I didn't know what toys I'd find before the movie came out. So this was sort of my prediction of the film based on the trailer and the toys that I bought.

It's pretty wacky, but was fun to film. I was impressed at how well the individual pieces fit together. You can see my First Order Army grow as the story goes on. I was shocked the so many of the vehicles weren't really in the film

Rampage (Heavy Metal) on Snow Patrol - GIJoe

He's a couple photos of Rampage (who I refer to as Heavy Metal) out in the snow. I took these photos a couple winters ago, but since today was the first snow we've had that accumulated I figured I post a snow picture. We didn't get much and it's pretty much gone already

This figure was a Target Exclusive and came with the R.H.I.N.O. vehicle in the Rise of Cobra line. His entire get up looks like it's inspired by the old school character Heavy Metal, which is why I bought him and refer to him as Heavy Metal. He's got a nice removable helmet and submachine gun.

The figure's vest can be removed  He also comes with a small pistol that fits in the holster on his side and two clip that can be attached to the machine gun (one at a time). I always like the black leather jacket over the green uniform. I just always liked that look.

Next To You (Music Video) by The Noise FM

If you've read much of this blog you know I'm all about Action Figures and Stop Motion Animation. The Noise FM, and indie band from Chicago made a music video for their cover o the Police song Next To You using toys and stop motion. This video feels like an episode of the Action Figure Adventures series. The animation gets really fun towards the end for the climax. Apparently the video was part of a charity event around Christmas time called Noise for Toys.

Slave-1 - Kenner Star Wars

Boba Fett's ship, Slave-1 has been a item on my toy wishlist for decades. As a kid, my best friend and  I made up all kinds of crazy extended adventures for the characters from Star Wars. Toys like the Rebel Transport or Slave-1 could be a huge part of our fictional Star Wars universe even though they only had moments of screen time in the Trilogy.

On the rate occasion I'd see on for sale as a kid it would either be insanely expensive or a broken shell. So I finally added one to my collection over the summer, and I couldn't be happier about it. It's not a perfect specimen, but the little play wear adds to the authenticity of this great ship.

The ship features rotating wings, movable guns, a loading ramp, a removable panel and a cool tilting drivers seat. There is a handle on the bottom to help hold it on flight position.

My favorite features as a kid was the included Han Solo in Carbonite block accessory. It's really to short (notice Han has no feet) but that's okay.

Slime Drones - Realm of the Underworld

Look out, Zoloworld has released crazy translucent Slime Drones for their Realm of the Underworld toy line. The figures all come with glittery accessories and a packet of slime. Check out the next segment of the Realm of the Underworld stop motion animated Action Figure Adventures and my review of these three waves of figures.

Below is a selection of photos of some of the many Slime Drone figures.

Ramyr and Stygian Stare Ulysses
Ramyr is a yellow dragon type creature and the black Ulysses figure
is under the spell of some Stygian swamp gas.

Toxic Terror Hercules & Grooze-Sum
This green Hercules has been slimed! The translucent red Grooze-Sum is reminiscent
of the original Acromancer figure. I really like the black bone paint apps.

The Last Decedent with amazing glow in the dark paint.

Molten Meltdown Acromancer & Corpse Tooth
The Acromancer in creepy yellow plastic and the Archfield in awesome green and yellow.
Corpse Tooth is one of my personal favorites.

The Swamp Drones - these guys are shape-shifters that can appear as heroes or villains. Taking advantage of the interchangeable parts, these ROTU figures each come with multiple heads including the heroes faces like Hercules and Krysis as well as evil heads like the Archfiend skull.

Batman - Takara Microman

Many years ago I picked up the Mircoman Batman figure from SmallJoes.com. The fact that he was well articulated and came with interchangeable hands intrigued me. As it turns out I'm not really hat wild about the figures. My biggest issue is actually the articulation. He's so lanky and weird looking due to all the joints. Yes, he is very poseable, but he looks weird half the time. My other issue us his paint. Not the main colors, I love the blue and gray. It's mostly the shading that bothers me. Look at the dark gray lines the outline his muscles. On the torso, maybe it's seams in the armor. On his legs the lines just look silly.

Like I mentioned, Batman came with several sets of hands. He was also given a batarang and grappling hook launcher. It's not really an accessory, but Batman's cape was made of fairly rigid plastic.

Realm of the Underworld - Stop Motion Animation

I created the following stop motion animated Action Figure Adventures for the Realm of the Underworld toy line by Zoloworld. These animated segments were part of the reviews I did for wave 1 and 2 of this line for my old youtube channel. In preparation for the upcoming review of the Slime Drone wave I wanted to compile the previous animated bits into one video. So here you can see the adventures of Hercules and Krysis as they battle Acromancer and his Archfiend army.

Teela - Masters of the Universe

Teela is one of two heroic female figures for the entire Masters of the Universe toy line. The figure was originally designed to represent two different figures. This figure was supposed be be used to represent both a warrior and a goddess. This wasn't really clear on the packaging. Then the Goddess character turned into the Sorceress in the Filmation cartoon adding to the confusion.

In the original mini-comics that came with the Masters figures, showed a blonde haired warrior named Teela in a white outfit in some adventures. In other stories a green woman dressed in snake armor was show giving He-Man his magical weapons known only as the Goddess. There were some Golden Books which featured the warrior woman Teela wearing the snake armor, just like the action figure. Lastly, in the Filmation cartoon Teela wore white, had hair the matched the toy, and was never seen wearing snake armor.

Teela is a fairly attractive looking female figure for the early 80's. She has a pretty face and decent proportions. Her legs are a bit beefy, but I think the designers had an Amazon woman in mind when they created the character.

Teela came with three accessories, snake armor, snake staff, and a shield. All her weapons were molded out of a dark red plastic.

Sorceress - Masters of the Universe 200x Mini-Statue

After Mattel's line of "200x" Masters of the Universe (He-Man) figures died out, the line transformed into a series of Mini-Statues or Stactions. These were little statues the same size as the action figures. Many cool characters were given the 200x design update in this line. We've even seen some of the influence of this line in the  modern Classics line. My buddy Tony gave me the Sorceress as a Christmas present.

In this version of He-Man, the Sorceress's outfit is still bird themed, but now she has a lot more Egyptian influences. The statue comes on a nice base that also shows the Sorceress in her bird form for when she leaves Castle Greyskull. You can also see she comes with a staff.

The back of the package shows off some really nice card art as well as images of Mantenna and Tongue Lashor.

Happy New Year everybody! I hope everyone had a good 2015 and will have an even better 2016. I know I didn't blog as much in 2015 as I had in the past. With my involvement with the SEO Toy Review youtube channel the "free time" I have for toy stuff is kind of eaten up a lot with that project. I hope to do a little better this year with the posts. I hope you guys enjoy the toy videos when I so post them. I try not to just spam the blog with every review we do, but share the ones that hit the same demographics as the stuff I typically post here on Action Figure Adventures. Feel free to leave some feedback on what type of posts you'd like to see more of here.
