Mega Construx Pokemon - Machop & Abra

Today I'm taking a look at Mega Construx Pokemon Machop and Abra buildable figures from the Pokeball Series 1 line. Each Pokeball contains parts and directions to build a Pokemon minifigure. These sets are part of a pretty cool Mega Construx toy line.

Hasbro Army Ants (1987) Home Movie from 1999

Army Ants was a new take on "little plastic army men" by Hasbro in 1987. My best friend growing up had the entire collection. We played with them a lot. We would each pick figures from both sides and then act out huge ant wars. In 1999 (way before youtube) we started making a nostalgia tape about toys from our childhood. We didn't film very many "episodes", but I enjoy the ones we made. So in honor of my friend Derek's birthday I present our Army Ants video with a brief modern into.

California Raisins

As a kid I loved the California Raisins. I'm a stop motion animation junkie and I always have been. I used to buy up the little PVC Raisins at yard sales and a couple of my relatives used to give them to me as presents. Today I want to show off two guitar playing Raisins. The first one with the yellow guitar has a bit of a hippie look going on. He has the round John Lennon glasses going on along with a head band. The second Raisin playing the blue guitar is a more familiar style with his orange sneakers.

As a kid I actually wore these goofy California Raisin sun glasses. My mom gave them to me as a gift one time because I was so obsessed with the Raisins. I quickly outgrew them because they are tiny kids glasses.

80's Monster Erasers - Diener Industires

As a kid I had tons of monster mini-figures. Monsters in My Pocket were popular, but I also had a lot of Diener Monster Erasers. I don't really even know how I got them. I don't remember getting packs of them. I just sort of acquired them somehow. Maybe party favors or something. I'm doing this post today because my childhood best friend (Derek) had tons of these things, and today is his birthday.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers by the Loyal Subjects

The Loyal Subjects have been on fire producing awesome vinyl mini figures of hot properties including GI Joe, Transformers, and now Power Rangers! I was so excited to see these little articulated figures with removable helmets and weapons. We picked up a case to try to get as many different characters as possible.

Blind Bags from SEO Toy Review on Pixel Dan

A few weeks ago I sent my buddy Pixel Dan a package of Blind Bags for his show Blind Bag Mini-Figure Madness. He opens my package at 13:16 into the video.

Major Bludd, BATs, Snow Job and more - GI Joe Kre-O

I've been collecting the GI Joe Blind Bag Kre-O mini-figures on and off since they came out. I only have a few of the building block sets from this series since I'm mainly focusing on the figures. Some I've bought and others were given to me or traded to me by some generous blogger friends.

Major Bludd - dressed in his brown and black uniform. I love all the details on his chest. They included the green patch on his normal arm and gave him some nice details on the armored (or robotic arm?)

 He comes with a cool gun and a backpack with extra rockets to by fired by the gun.

Next up is Snow Job, a character I didn't care for to much as a kid, but later really learned to like. I got into GI Joe a little late so the '85 and '86 Joes who were a little more buff and detailed became my preferred team members.

Snow Job is dressed in his white snow suit and comes with skis, poles, a backpack, and a gun.

The Kre-O version of one of my all time favorite GI Joe figures...the Battle Android Trooper. I loved the original BAT figure. I don't think this guys in quite as cool, but they did a nice job.

He comes with great details printed on his torso and legs as well as a bunch of cool accessories. I know he kind of looks like his head is on fire, but it's really the only way to store his flamethrower accessory.

Ripper was probably the Dreadnok with the best sculpt out of the original three. Some of that didn't translate that well into Kre-O form.

His mohawk  is a little funny looking. Ripper comes with a pincher/jaws of life tool ever weirder than his vintage figure. I does articulate which is cool. He also comes with a Kre-O block that is decoed to look like a can of grape soda.







Last but not least is Low Light. This GIJoe "night spotter" (sniper) comes with a backpack, rifle, and MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). This guy really captures the original figure. I love the knit cap.

A package to Pixel Dan from BuzzChuck

Monsters in My Pocket Super Scary Packaging

Monsters in My Pocket were some cherished playthings from my childhood. I worked hard to collect all of Series 1, Series2, and the Super Scary monsters. Later I would found out that the Super scary were technically Series 4 and that Series 3 was not widely released. Over the Summer by buddy Derek, who actually introduced me to MIMP game me a a collection of toy packaging from his childhood. I this pile of boxes was one item of MIMP history. This is ae Super Scary secret 6 box. The window would display the 100 point monster in the pack and the other five figures were blind boxed (before that was a term). I always liked the haunted house art work on the box..

The back of the package explained that the Super Scary Monsters in my Pocket figures were slightly larger and decorated compaired to the earlier figures. It doesn't mention what series number the Super Scary figures were. There is also information on the fan club and some of the other MIMP products.

The one product that was teased but never released was the Haunted House Playset. I wanted this thing so bad. I'd love to see photos of the prototype if it ever got that far. I'd love to know what Matchbox was planning for our little rubber monsters.

Wave 5 Kre-O GI Joe figures

I recently bought 5 Kre-O blind bag packs from the new wave 5 GI Joe series.  Several 1986 figures were included in this wave, and despite '85 being considered the greatest year of the vintage joe line, '86 was the year I really started collecting.

S.L.U.G. Zombies

Quick update today. I forgot to show off these guys during October... oh well. Here are a few Zombies. These guys are like MUSCLE Men and Monsters in my Pocket rolled into one. The weight lifter guys is by far my favorite figure from the line. The other two guys look like thy are based on Coronal Sanders and Bruce Lee

Guardains of the Galaxy Mystery Bobble Heads

Not too long ago I showed off Rocket and Star Lord from the Funko Mystery Mini Figures. These little blind box figures are actually bobble heads. I was given 10 blind boxes to review for Super Exciting Outrageous Toy Review. Out of the 10 packages I got 6 unique figures of 5 different characters.  Check out the video review to see who I got.


I gave one of the Rocket figures to a young cos-player known as the Little Doctor at Retro Con. I knew he was planning to attend the show dressed as Doctor Who on Saturday and Rocket Racoon on Sunday.

Display Update: AFA Collection Mini-Figs

Ever since I was a kid I've loved the old printer's trays that held the metal type in a California Job Case.  These trays when hung on the wall make great shelves for mini-figs. My buddy Derek had one in his room as a kid that we called the knick-knack shelf. I've had one hanging in my dining room for a while now, and it was pretty much filled. I just recently bought another one at a yard sale. I actually bought it from a guy who owned a printing business.

 I moved a lot of my Kre-o GI Joe figures from the top of the upper case to the top of the new case. This gives me more room for some of the large Blind Box figures as I collect them.

Here are some little Guardians of the Galaxy Blind Box Bobble-Heads figures made by Funko. Star-Lord and Rocket are the first new figures to find a home in my new shelf. These guys came into my collection due to a new project I'm now involved with. I've hinted at this new project once before, but tomorrow's post will be the big announcement. (trying not to hype it too much...) My Action Figure Adventures readers may enjoy some parts of the new project, but you guys aren't really the target audience for the new project.
