Ash - ReAction Alien

Yet another ReAction figure from the Alien line. This guy was one of the figures sculpted but never released by Kenner in the 70's. Now all the fans of Sci Fi can have this interesting (no spoilers) character all for their own.

 Ash is dressed in a light blue jumpsuit. He has long white sleeves underneath as well as white shoes. The only real paint app details on this figure is his red patch on his shoulder.

Ash comes with a cool gray scanner accessory. It is nicely detailed on both sides. It's not super exciting like a gun, but sometimes figures need useful items as accessories.

He's a group shot of the Nostromo Crew. Ash is scanning Kane's space suit for contaminants. Dallas and Ripley look on in suspense. Ash is an important character, but probably the lease exciting figure in this wave.

Cobra Stun Box Art - GI Joe

Today we are taking a look at the amazing box art for the original Cobra Stun. A while back I posted that a good friend of mine game me a huge collection of boxes from his childhood toys. Some of these boxes were in amazing shape and others had gotten damp and damaged over the years in storage.

This is the a photo of the box art that actually appears on the side panel of the box. I just love how they show this thing decked out with Cobra personel. Motor-Viper (the included figure) if pictured in the driver's seat. At the same time Dr. Mindbender and a Crimson Guard are manning the main cannons. In the back of the vehicle you can see Tele-Viper guarding the rear. The Stun was one of the few vehicles in the line that would have this type of rear-facing defense. I also like how accurately they represent the toy in the art work. Notice the foot pegs are there on the rear fenders.

 Here is the actual box. You can see it got damp and stuck to another package. I cut off the side flaps that were undamaged and saved them. I'm considering getting a collage picture frame to display the smaller box art that I salvaged off some of the really messed up boxes.

Here  is a close up of one of the smaller images on the back of the box that show off that you can place 11 figures on the Stun. I don't know how the guys on the fenders would stay on in real life, but I did push this thing around my basement many times with it all loaded up like this.

The last photo here shows off the back of the package. You can see this side features a photo of the vehicles and has all it's parts labled. The file card has been clipped form the box and some of the side flaps are stuck down.

Baron Zemo - Secret Wars

I'm a fan of the old Marvel Secret Wars toys. They had simple sculpts and paint apps that rubbed off easily, but in the 80's they were all we had and pretty awesome. I picked up Baron Zemo loose at a local comic shop a couple months back.  He almost looks like Spider-Man in a weird outfit. He has the red mask and torso with lines on them. He's also wearing a pink singlet with yellow gloves and boots.

Baron Zemo was released in 1984 as part of the Secret Wars toys. He came with a yellow belt, black blaster, silver shield, and inserts for the shield. I unfortunately don't have any of his accessories, but since his paint was so clean I had to grab him. Other than that I'm not real familiar with the character.

Penguin from Batman Returns - DC Multiverse

I finally got a chance to post about this Batman Returns Penguin figure. He's part of the DC Multiverse line that includes movie and video game versions of DC heroes and villains. This is Danny DeVito as the Penguin.

He really looks incredible. So much like he did in the film. He turned out really cool. He's got a ton of details with that tie and the folds in his suit. The figure looks a little dusty in the photos, sorry he laid around for a while before I photographed him.

The Penguin comes with one accessory. It's a black umbrella with a brown handle. I really like the sculpt work on his hands that looks just like the flipper hands he had in the film.

Major Bludd, BATs, Snow Job and more - GI Joe Kre-O

I've been collecting the GI Joe Blind Bag Kre-O mini-figures on and off since they came out. I only have a few of the building block sets from this series since I'm mainly focusing on the figures. Some I've bought and others were given to me or traded to me by some generous blogger friends.

Major Bludd - dressed in his brown and black uniform. I love all the details on his chest. They included the green patch on his normal arm and gave him some nice details on the armored (or robotic arm?)

 He comes with a cool gun and a backpack with extra rockets to by fired by the gun.

Next up is Snow Job, a character I didn't care for to much as a kid, but later really learned to like. I got into GI Joe a little late so the '85 and '86 Joes who were a little more buff and detailed became my preferred team members.

Snow Job is dressed in his white snow suit and comes with skis, poles, a backpack, and a gun.

The Kre-O version of one of my all time favorite GI Joe figures...the Battle Android Trooper. I loved the original BAT figure. I don't think this guys in quite as cool, but they did a nice job.

He comes with great details printed on his torso and legs as well as a bunch of cool accessories. I know he kind of looks like his head is on fire, but it's really the only way to store his flamethrower accessory.

Ripper was probably the Dreadnok with the best sculpt out of the original three. Some of that didn't translate that well into Kre-O form.

His mohawk  is a little funny looking. Ripper comes with a pincher/jaws of life tool ever weirder than his vintage figure. I does articulate which is cool. He also comes with a Kre-O block that is decoed to look like a can of grape soda.







Last but not least is Low Light. This GIJoe "night spotter" (sniper) comes with a backpack, rifle, and MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). This guy really captures the original figure. I love the knit cap.

Dallas (Alien) - ReAction

It's been a little while since I posted a ReAction figure. I figured it was time to post Dallas from the classic SciFi film Alien. Dallas is the Captain of the Nostromo. He's a classic Kenner style action figure with five points of articulation. The figure has nice details sculpted on his jacket.

 Dallas also comes with a flamethrower accessory just like the one that came with Ripley. I really like the lettering going across the back of his jump suit with the name of the vessel on it.

Batcopter - Corgi Jr.

Here is the die-cast Batcopter released by the British company Corgi Jr. in 1978. I have previously posted about several other Corgi toy cars including the Batmobile. All these little matchbox sized cars were given to me by an older kid up the street who had outgrown them. They were well used when I got them, but I always treated them well. I was really into Super Heroes and tried to keep these from getting any more scratched up.

The main body of the Batcopter is die-cast metal painted black. The rotor blades, interior and skids are made from a reddish/orange plastic. The tail rotor is missing it's blades and the main body is missing a sticker with a red Batsymbol and the word 'Batman'.

I always thought it was really cool that the main rotor blades were shaped like long and skinny bat wings.

Eldor - MOTUC

Eldor was a wizard type character that would have been part of the Powers of Grayskull line had the original Masters of the Universe line continued. Now we have him as a figure from MOTUC. Eldor worked with He-Ro in a time period that's a little sketchy now because of the 200x history and all the other characters shoe-horned into Masters Classics.

Like all Masters, Eldor is a muscular man. Unlike most Masters, he wears gray pants and a brown hoodie. The Four Horseman did a great job of sculpting this character based off some production artwork and a prototype vintage toy.

Eldor comes with a really cool staff that contains a gem as well as a removable hood.

He also comes with the Book of Living Spells which is a pretty awesome book accessory. It actually opens! On side has the He-Ro symbol and the other has the He-Man iron cross. The pages inside are blank... not sure if that makes it more or less interesting. This figure has so much detail sculpted on his. It really is incredible.

Vintage Ninja Turtles Figures & Vehicles

I recently recovered a lot of old photos of vintage Ninja Turtles figures & vehicles from a hard drive to a computer I used several years ago. The computer stored images for content I was working on for a now defunct website in the mid 2000's. I sold off my TMNT figures in middle school or early high school at yard sales. Later someone gave me a handful of old figures that were kind of beat up. I took photos of them along with three vehicles I used to own and their boxes. I'm not sure why the three vehicles from my childhood were not sold with the Party Wagon and other toys. In addition to that I don't know what happened to the vehicles after these photos were taken. I still have the figures in these images.

First up is the Toilet Taxi. This was one of those really crazy one man vehicles we got in the 90's. It's almost like a law mower with a toilet for a seat and a sink for a stearing wheel. I remember getting it as a kid and playing with it quite a bit.

I loved the "Sanitized for your protection" sticker and the Foot Clan toilet paper.

I also really like the the plungers move up and down on the front as it rolls.

Next up is the Sewer Seltzer Cannon this little piece of artillery had a water squirting action that I rarely used. I wasn't big on the Ninja Turtles using guns.

For such a large vehicle I always thought it was crazy that the Pizza Thrower could only carry one Turtles. I did have ton of fun with this thing as a kid.

Whoever engineer this bad boy did a great job. Those pizzas really did fly far.

GI Joe Recon Sled '86 - Ghost of Christmas Past

Here's a little treat... a photo from the Ghost of Christmas Past. This photo is probably from 1986. This is a whole bunch of kids that my mom used to babysit for at our house all opening a present right before Christmas. Most of the stuff is still in the wrapping paper, but you can clearly see I got the GI Joe Recon Sled. It's a funky little one-man low crawl vehicle. It's kind of like a motorcycle, but not at all.

 Here's a little closes shot of the box. It's hard to see, but on the box Bazooka is shown riding the Recon Sled.
